Hi. My name is Ann, and I will be your guide for the Art History Course. I have the good fortune to be a practicing artist. I sell my paintings and also teach drawing and painting. When I was introduced to the world of art, my life was enriched more than I could ever have guessed at the time. My hope for this course is that your life will be enriched, too.

Art History courses can be dry. My Art History experience involved a very heavy book with very small black and white pictures and an unbelievable number of names and dates to memorize. This course is not  designed that way.

In the Art History Course, you will tour the world on the web to investigate the times, places and cultures where art was made; learn how a region's religions and philosophies influence its art; track how technology changes how we see and what we make; meet some of the great artists; and tour the world to experience the best of its treasures.

The work in this course is fun and interesting, but it is also quite rigorous. You will be expected to read and learn history. You must acquire skills of analysis and interpretation. This is a Mastery Course; lessons will be repeated until you master the skills required in each lesson. There are optional hands-on art lessons in each chapter, should you want to learn some of the techniques of the greats.
