Hi, I am your teacher for this course. Welcome to English 1.

When working on your lessons use the following guidelines:

• Proofread and spell check all your work. Be sure to use proper English.
• Respond to all requests for revisions.
• It is not acceptable to use lazy English such as the words "cuz" for "because" or "wanna" for "want to".
• If you are writing a story where you want to illustrate a particular dialect or mode of speech, words such as "cuz" should be noted with quotation marks ('' ").
• Each sentence should begin with a capital letter and end with a period, question mark, or exclamation point. Proper punctuation is important!
• The pronoun "I" is always capitalized.

In Lesson 12 of this course you are asked to watch a Disney movie to compare with a textual fairy or folktale. If this will be a problem, please let the instructor know and the assignment will have other requirements added to it in order to make up for the missing movie.

If you need help, ask for help. Be specific with your questions and what you don't understand. I will try a little harder to explain myself. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me using the form at the bottom of the page.

May submit: no more than 2 posts per day Credit options: 1 credit / 0.5 credit (first or second semester)

For lessons with a text box to submit your work: If you have a lot of work to do in the text box on a lesson, we recommend you work in an outside word-processor and save your work on your own computer, then cut and paste it into the box. (Check your formatting after you paste.) This ensures that you don't lose your work. If you don't have a word processor, you can download a program suite called OpenOffice for free. Click here for detailed instructions. (Not available in demo.)

The text box will not maintain any special colors, bolding, or other formatting you have applied. Whenever it is important that the teacher see that formatting be sure to save the file from your word processor (preferably as an RTF file) onto your computer, and upload it to your teacher. There is a link to upload a file at the bottom of each lesson after the text box.

If you have any general questions or comments for you teacher feel free to submit them below. If you have questions about a specific lesson, it is usually better to submit the questions on that lesson, though if there is a time concern usually messages from this page are looked at first.
