Fitness and Safety

Hello! My name is Missy and I'm your teacher for Fitness and Safety. We will be learning about physical fitness, the important role that exercise plays in our life and how we can safely incorporate exercise into our daily routine. Students will gain a better understanding of the benefits of an active lifestyle versus a sedentary lifestyle. The purpose of this course is to provide students with basic concepts about physical fitness that can be practically applied for the students' own health benefit. Concepts covered are related to nutrition, proper stretching/cooling down, strength and cardiovascular training, preventing and/or first aid for sports injuries and fitness for special populations.

Your ideas and suggestions are welcome anytime. For each lesson, you will read the general information, search the Internet for answers, take time to evaluate the level of physical fitness activity in your own life and submit your lesson work via the forms on the bottom of the lesson page. If there is any course material that you do not understand or you have questions, please let me know. I am always available to help you.

I think that you will find that you will learn a lot about yourself in this course. I encourage you to use your imagination and creativity.
