Hello, and welcome to World Geography course. In this course you will learn about geographic features, climate, natural resources, and maps. More importantly, we will focus on how geography can affect people, current events, and world history.
This course is only available as a .5 credit course. If you have any questions about this, please write to guidance from your student desk.
Each lesson has two, sometimes three types of questions. All of the lessons have "handbook questions." These are easy identification questions based on the vocabulary words in the handbook. Some lessons also have "map skills" questions. These are questions based on maps to help you become familiar with different types of maps. All lessons also have an "assignment" section. The questions in the assignment are based on the lesson material and may require some individual research. All of the lessons have links to a resources page that will help you get started in your research. Most assignment questions can be answered by looking at one of the resources linked on this page.
This course has a lot of questions that ask you to express your opinion about a topic. When you express your opinion, you always need to back it up with facts, or reasons why you hold that opinion. Also, you must write every answer in your own words. No exceptions.
The handbook questions will often ask you to find examples of landforms or name specific areas of the world. Make sure that you name examples that have not already been mentioned in the lesson or handbook.
If you need help, ask! The teacher is here to help you.
