Modern World History

Hi, I am Clint, your teacher for this course.

Welcome to Modern World History.

This course is made up of presentations and lessons. The presentations are like notes, to give you an overview of the subject being discussed. The lessons will either give you more information to work from, or give you questions to research and think about. In each lesson you will need to submit work to me. The presentations and the text of the lessons will usually give you the information you need to complete the lessons. When a lesson requires outside research, you will be explicitly asked to do outside research.

Please do the lessons in order, and do not skip around in the course. You may submit two posts per day. Try to only have two active lessons at one time.

If at any point you are having difficulty understanding the course material or locating information, please contact me for help. To ask a general question use the form at the bottom of the page. To ask a question about a specific lesson use the form at the bottom of that lesson page.

A Note on Presentations

Presentations in this course contain scripts that Internet Explorer refers to as "Active Content." Depending on your browser's security settings, you may need to allow the active content before you can view the presentation. When you click to view the presentation, the web browswer will block the active content and give you a bar at the top you can click on to allow active content.

You will need to allow it for each presentation as you go to view them.

It is strongly recommended that view the presentations in this course with Internet Explorer. IE has a full screen presentation option which gives these presentations their best appearance.

You may need to "allow" the active content again in order to view the full-screen presentation. When the presentation is full screen, you can advance the presentation by clicking with your mouse button. When you are finished with the presentation, press your "Esc" key to exit full-screen mode.

While the presentations are viewable in other browsers, there will be annoyances such as odd text breaks or unnecessary tiling of background images.

With each presentation link there is also a link to a plain text outline of the information in case you have problems. Remember this will only give you text, and no charts or images.

When you finish this course you are responsible for completing and submitting your Credit Report Form (CRF).

  • May submit: no more than 2 posts per day
  • Credit options: 1 credit / 0.5 credit (first or second semester)
