Frequently asked questions about Whitmore School Diploma Program.


1. Is this school accredited?

Yes, Whitmore School is an accredited private school. You may search the accreditation of Compuhigh by going to the www.citaschools.org website.


2. Is this home-schooling?

Technically, you are not home-schooling your child. Since Whitmore School is an accredited private school you are enrolling your child in a private school and taking online or virtual high school courses. We provide the course work and teachers,
just like traditional schools.

3. What is the cost? Can I make payments?

Tuition for Whitmore School Diploma Program is $985.00 per year. A student can take up to 8 credits per year.  We will accept payment in 3 checks with the Enrollment Form. The first check for $485.00 needs to have a current date to initiate enrollment. The other two checks for $250.00 each should be posted dated for the next two months. Unless we receive all three checks with the Enrollment Form, we will not initiate enrollment.


4. Are there any other costs?

5. Do you accept credits from other high schools?

Yes, we accept credits from other high schools. Upon enrollment, we need an official transcript from your former high school. We will evaluate this transcript and assign credits for all courses your former high school has given you credit for. Then we will e-mail you the list of courses you need to take to complete requirements for your Whitmore School diploma.

6. How do I get the transcripts?

Transcripts must be requested by a parent.  To request transcripts, fill out the Release of Records form and send it to the student's former high school.  The high school will then send us the student's transcript. http://www.compuhigh.com/release.html


7. Do I need to buy textbooks?

No. We provide the course work and the teacher. All of the resources necessary to complete a course can be obtained on the Internet or through a public library.

8. How do your courses work? Is everything done online?

Yes, all the course work, communication with the teachers and other students are all done online. Once you enroll with Whitmore School Compuhigh you will receive a username and password via your email address. This will give you access to all of your  courses. There is a orientation for all students to read; however, here is a brief overview of the orientation:

* Most students work on two courses, then add additional courses once they feel comfortable with how the courses work.

* Once enrolled, a student clicks on the course they wish to take.

* Each course begins with a teacher introduction and requirements for the course.

* Students then proceed to Lesson 1.

* Following each lesson, students complete assignments or projects and submit them to the Classroom or the teacher.

* The teacher will respond within 48 hours (often sooner).

* We request that students do 1- 2 lessons a day in each of their courses.

* When a students has completed the requirements for a course, a Credit Report Form is submitted.  The link for this form is provided in the Orientation.

* Credits and grades for completed courses are given at the end of each month.


9. What if a student doesn't understand the material and needs help?

The student simply writes to the teacher and requests help. The student should explain where they are getting stuck and the teacher will help them out.


10. How do I know my child is doing the work?

Compuhigh/Whitmore School has an electronic documentation system. Each student has their own private "File Cabinet". Each time a student submits his/her work via our classroom bulletin boards or our email system it is stored in their "File Cabinet" along with the teacher's responses. As a parent, you can access this File Cabinet with the student's username and password. Or you can call our guidance counselor and speak with her about your child's work.

11. How do I enroll? How soon can I begin my course work?

Once we receive your enrollment form you will be entered into our database (within 24 hours) and an e-mail will be sent to you with your username and password. You can begin your courses immediately. If you enroll before we receive your transcript, we will start you in a required subject (such as English) that we know you will need to take.


12. How will I get my diploma ?

Students may graduate from Whitmore School in June, August, or January of each year.   However, if students complete their graduation requirements in between these times we can send a transcript and letter of completion to other schools or institutions. This request should be made by the student. Diplomas will be sent by mail a the next graduation date.


13. Will I get grades?

Yes. You will receive a final grade for your course work, once all work is completed.

14. Is there someone I can talk to if I have a problem?

Yes. You can contact your teacher if you are having a problem in a specific course. Our guidance counselor is available (M-F from 9 AM to 5 PM EST) to speak with if you need to talk with someone. She includes her phone number on the emails sent to you.
